The wine farm lies on Moncucco hill, a zone that has been regarded for many years for Moscato wine production. The farm was founded in 1988 by Piero Gatti, a man who loved his work and was very attached to the land and its tradition.
Today it is still managed by his family and they continue to produce wines of excellent quality. This is the result of careful selection of the grapes and precise wine-making in the cellar.
Since 2000 the company has been solely managed by Rita and her daughter Barbara who are engaged full-time with the working processes and public relations in Italy and abroad.
The main product is Moscato, a sweet and sparkling wine, characterized by a fine and penetrating perfume and a fresh, engaging taste; it accompanies well all kinds of desserts except those which are chocolate based. For dishes based on fruit, you mustn’t miss Brachetto, a light purple wine characterized by a nose of roses and geranium.
As well as these two sweet wines there is also a small production of red wines: the “Violetta”, a Freisa that is a very typical grape of the area with highly developed tannins, to be drunk with cheese and salami, and the “Verbeia”, a blend of Freisa (20%) and Barbera (80%), to accompany meat.
Since 2007 the Gatti family have been producing a new wine called “Vignot”. This is a moscato passito, obtained from the grapes of a small vineyard (vignot in piemontese dialect) left to dry on the vines until the end of October after which the entire vinification proceeds in steel tanks.
It has an intense-yellow colour and a rich and perfumed bouquet; it is a wonderful experience with well-matured cheese or just with some good friends. Finally there are 3 grappas obtained from the distillation of the company’s grape skins (marcs): moscato, brachetto and freisa.
